Double Crested Cormorants Drying their Wings

These double-crested cormorants were sitting on a log in Brooks Slough, in a "wing-drying" pose.  The microscopic structure of their wings allows their plumage to get wet, thus facilitating underwater pursuit of fish. They asssume this pose to dry their feathers.
