Sacred Datura at Dawn
Photographed on a Sea
Kayaking Trip along the Sea of Cortez north of Loreto
March
Each morning, for eight days, we arose from our sleeping bags to pre-dawn blood-red skies, then ate our breakfast, loaded our kayaks and paddled to our next camp -- all before noon when the winds came up. The sacred datura blooms and dies in only one day, so I asked my friends to wait while I spent time photographing this gorgeous flower in the golden early morning light. |
