We left the Zabrieski Point parking area and started down the Golden Canyon Trail a half hour before dawn to reach this viewpoint.  We then continued down the 3 mile (870' elev. loss) trail to photograph the splendid badlands near the top and the incredible rock formations further down the canyon in early morning light.

(Note: leave a second car in the Golden Canyon parking lot; the climb back up is steep and hot)
