Puget Sound Urban Wildlife Photography Club

Introduction

The Puget Sound Urban Wildlife Photography Club is a group of people who share an interest in wildlife.

  • We came together in June, 1993, to learn more about urban wildlife, their habitat needs, and how to achieve a balance between wildlife and people in an urban setting.
  • We provide photographic support to projects dealing with wildlife awareness, wildlife preservation, wildlife habitat restoration, and other urban wildlife-related activities.
  • We have been inactive for several years, but will be resuming activities in the near future - keep posted!!!

Field Trips

We have a lot of fun on our field trips while we photograph, watch, and learn about wildlife.  We travel to both urban and more wild settings, and we try to keep our group informal and friendly.
  • Urban field trips include ranger-led wildlife walks in our urban parks; club trips to urban wetlands, shorelines, and natural areas; and individual trips to recommended urban wildlife viewing locations.
  • Our out-of-town field trips are usually two-day weekend trips to natural areas in Washington.

  • ..

Educational Programs

We also enjoy informative programs at our monthly meetings, usually held at a local pizza house.
  • Our speakers include wildlife biologists and other species experts, wildlife photographers, raptor rehabilitators, wildlife trackers, equipment specialists, and others.
  • Our meetings also include time for you to share your urban wildlife slides and project information with other members.

Environmental Projects

  • We provide photographic and other support to projects involving urban wildlife awareness and conservation, wildlife habitat preservation and restoration, and other issues concerned with the balance between wildlife and people in an urban setting.

  • ..

Membership

  • Our group photographic skills range from beginning to advanced; we welcome non-photographer birders and other wildlife enthusiasts as well.
  • Anyone may attend the monthly meetings and participate in club field trips, club-supported projects, and other club activities at no charge.
