Vine maple leaves and the leaves on small
shrubs are starting to change colors and can be seen in any of the river
valleys and in the Rainy Pass area. Cottonwood leaves haven't really
started to change color yet.
- Leavenworth
Ranger District
- Sept 28, 2004
Fall colors are starting to show throughout
the area, especially driving the Icicle, Tumwater Canyon and the Blewett
Pass areas. For colorful hikes there is not a disappointing one in
the area. Many trees are already showing reds and yellows and the distant
scenic views are changing daily.
- Cle
Elum Ranger District
- Sept 28, 2004
Red and yellow colors are beginning to show
at high elevation mountain sides along the I-90 corridor, but Cottonwood
trees have not yet changed; more reports of color showing in the Cle Elum
Valley are beginning to come in. Larch trees in the Ingalls Lake area
are expected to reach their peak color change in early October.
- Naches
Ranger District
- Sept 28, 2004
The fall colors are just starting to show
on the Naches District. State Route 410 to the top of Chinook Pass is showing
some gorgeous yellow and gold. Driving the loop on Tieton Road #1200
around Clear Lake and Rimrock Lake is also a nice route to see fall colors.
The Pinegrass area south of Rimrock Lake is showing some good color.
The cottonwood, larch and aspen trees have just begun to turn color.
