23, 2004 -- Berry pickers may
head south from Randle on Forest Road 25 and turn right on
FR 2516. Berries are along the road, but if you like to hike,
get out and go along the trails to find berries. Berries
have also been reported to be south of Randle on Forest
Road 2324. Follow FR 23 and turn right on FR2324, then
turn onto spur road 2324063. The Sunrise Trail #262
has lots of berries as well as the Jumbo Peak area.
North of Randle turn on Forest Road 63, Davis Creek
Road, the berries are up in the high country. Pole Patch
and Burley Mountain also have been reported to have
berries.

2, 2004 -- Huckleberries are still abundant
in the higher elevation fields. East Crater, Bare Mountian,
Sawtooth area are the most well known and easiest to
find by the public. District staff checked the Bare
Mt. yesterday and the berries are past their peak but
good picking is still available. People reported picking
almost a gallon in about 1.5 hours. The berries are on the
small side but abundant.
- Also
Elderberry is ripening now and in good supply especially
in the Little White Salmon drainage. There are also
a few wild trailing blackberries and wild black raspberries
around still.
